Getting To Koh Samui

 

Plane

Bangkok Airways has numerous daily flights connecting Bangkok with Samui. In addition, they have daily flights servicing the Phuket-Samui route.

Bus

Visitors can also get to Ko Samui by bus from Bangkok (loaded onto a ferry at Don Sak). Bangkok-Ko Samui buses depart from Bangkok’s Southern Bus Terminal at 19.30 daily. Traveling time is 13 hours.
Songserm Rungrueang Co., Ltd. operates bus services from Bangkok to Ko Samui daily at 5 p.m. The bus arrive at Ko Samui at 11 a.m. on the next day.

Train

Visitors can take a train from Bangkok to Surat Thani Railway Station, then take a connecting bus to Samui (located on a ferry at Don Sak).

Car

Surat Thani can be most conveniently reached by car from Bangkok by taking Highway No. 4 to Chumphon via Phetchaburi and Prachuap Khiri Khan, and thence onto Highway No. 41 and Highway No. 401.

 

 
 

Traveling on Koh Samui

 

Taxi

Car taxis are available almost anywhere on the island and can take you to most places, Make sure to agree on the price before departing as meters are barely used.

Motorbike Taxi

Motorbike taxis are often located near major resorts and businesses again make sure that the price is agreed on before departing.

 

Song Tiew

Trucks (or utes) with bench seats and covered area on the back for people to sit, the most common form of public transport on the island and cheaper than taxis. They only travel set routes covering most of the island.

Rental Car

If taxis are not your thing then a large variety of cars can be rented for an average of 1,000 THB per day.

 

Rental Motorbike

The humble motorbike is the most common and economical form of transport on the island rental per day being 100-250 THB and per month for 2000-4000 THB.
